He co-founded Whittenburg Law Firm with his brother, Louis Palma McKee “Mack” Whittenburg, and practiced law for nearly 49 years. He gained widespread recognition in the legal community for several high-profile cases, his service on the American Law Institute’s governing Council, and for his ability to solve novel problems using his extensive legal experience. Texas Monthly aptly described him in a 1996 cover story:
In person, George has a congenial personality, but during a lawsuit, he is a pit bull.
